About artelino

Dieter WanczuraThe artelino GmbH was established in 2001 as a virtual auction house for Japanese art prints. In 2008 we added arts and crafts from Nepal with traditional Tibetan rugs, Tibetan thangkas and Nepal metal statues.

Soon I had to learn that an auction site specialized in Japanese prints was not the right platform to sell Tibetan arts and crafts. Nor were auctions the right way to sell rugs.

I therefore started this shopping site exclusively devoted to Tibetan rugs and other handicraft products from the Himalayas.

Phoenix and Dragon Carpet. My experience with Tibetan arts and crafts goes back to the late 1970s when I visited Nepal, the homeland of ten thousands of refugees from Tibet, for the first time. Since then I have been fascinated by the unique Tibetan culture, history, geography and the arts and crafts created by Tibetans, Nepali and other peoples of the Himalayas.

As a starter for first-time visitors I recommend to read:

Tibetan Carpets from Nepal.
